The UTS Animal Logic Academy (UTS ALA) is an innovative partnership between The University of Technology Sydney and world-leading creative studio Animal Logic.

Combining UTS’s commitment to experiential learning with Animal Logic’s industry expertise, the UTS ALA is a unique collaboration that responds directly to the challenges and wicked problems of the visualisation industry.

Located on the UTS campus in the heart of Sydney’s creative precinct, UTS ALA will focus on the application of animation, visual effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI) in a broad range of contexts. It will take a transdisciplinary approach to education, championing the pursuit of innovation in all facets of creative professional practice.

The initial course offering will be a Master of Animation and Visualisation that draws inspiration and connection from across UTS, the creative industries and emerging technologies.

About Animal Logic

Animal Logic is best known for animation and special effects production on a range of blockbuster films, including Happy Feet, The LEGO Movie, The Matrix and The Great Gatsby, and has played a key role in the development of the creative industries over the last 25 years. Animal Logic personnel and intellectual property resources will be integrated with UTS’s purpose-built facilities and practice-oriented teaching, ensuring global industry needs and standards are at the forefront of the academy’s outputs.

Master of Animation and Visualisation

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Master of Animation and Visualisation equips students with specialist skills in digital animation, visual effects and computer-generated imagery (CGI). This career-accelerating degree has been co-designed and developed as part of the UTS Animal Logic Academy (UTS ALA) a dynamic collaboration between UTS and world-leading creative studio Animal Logic.

Visualise your future

The Master of Animation and Visualisation emphasises industry knowledge, aesthetic ability and technical proficiency in digital asset creation and computer graphics software. It is delivered in a professional studio environment that emulates the real-life working environment of creative visualisation companies. Students will work in cohorts to develop their creative professional practice, conceptual skills and technological dexterity, pushing their work beyond existing techniques in order to embrace innovation. Skills gained in this course can be applied across a wide range of roles, from animation and software development to data visualisation, data science and across emerging technologies.

The Master of Animation and Visualisation responds to critical industry demand for graduates with expertise in visualisation and virtualisation. How to apply

Applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications or experience that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies. In addition to the standard admission requirements, applicants will be required to submit a portfolio of relevant work and will also be required to participate in an interview.

Minimum English language requirements

The English proficiency requirement for international students or local applicants with international qualifications is: Academic IELTS: 6.5 overall with a writing score of 6.0; or TOEFL: paper based: 550-583 overall with TWE of 4.5, internet based: 79-93 overall with a writing score of 21; or AE5: Pass; or PTE: 58-64; or CAE: 176-184
