We’re thrilled to announce that Chris French will be joining the Academy teaching team as Technical Lead.
Chris spent almost a decade working at Fuel VFX as a CG Lead, On Set Supervisor and Operations Manager. During this time he worked on a diverse range of projects such as Charlotte’s Web, The Spirit, Australia, Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and Prometheus. Some of his other credits include Thor: Ragnarok, Wrinkle In Time, Outlaw King and Skyscraper.
As a writer, Chris has worked with Digital Pulse and Curiious, helping to infuse story into their virtual reality projects. His most recent collaboration has been with Virtually Human Studio on their digital horse racing game, Zed Run.
Chris also has a background in education, working as a teacher and industry mentor at TAFE Design Centre Enmore, where he specialised in teaching lighting and rendering, and helped to establish the production studio subjects which aimed to replicate a VFX studio environment.
Chris joins Creative Lead Alex Weight and VFX Lead Dylan Neill as part of the Academy’s team of industry professionals teaching the Master of Animation and Visualisation, a one-year accelerated postgraduate degree designed to help students build niche technical and creative skills, and develop their professional practice through working on a series of high-end collaborative projects, in an immersive production studio environment.
